From May to August 2014 the Metropolitan Museum of Art celebrated the work of iconic couturier Charles James. This exhibition used technology to highlight James’s use of of mathematical and sculptural processes. In Beyond Fashion, robotic arms projected light onto the designer’s gowns and synchronized with explanatory companion videos revealing the structure within.
Brooklyn Research was brought in to provide interactive support for the exhibition. We designed and implemented the necessary network to program and monitor the robotic arms and video displays. We also took care of projection mapping to make sure each piece was shown exactly to the exhibition designer’s vision.
