Brooklyn Research collaborated with Reddymade, Reveal Design Group, and Bendark to create the Times Square Valentine Heart sculpture for February 2019. We specifically focused on the interactive portion of the sculpture. As people enter the space underneath the X sculpture the lighting through the ellipse openings gets triggered and eventually brightens. As each new person steps into the space, the light gets triggered, giving a sense of togetherness.
The build out uses a series of load cell sensors underneath the platform to detect changes in weight. When those changes occur, the control system sends out communication to the lights to start animating appropriately.
